Comment: Thanks Jim, Helen, Jeremy and Lily, You've given me the warmest welcome imaginable on my first couple of visits to The Unicorn, Pontypool. Great Sunday lunch today too. I live in Newport, but I'll still be one of your regulars, if that's OK with you. Best regards, Garry

Comment: What a fab place the Unicorn is. We had Sunday lunch there and it was spot on. As a vegetarian, I don't get a lot of choice as a rule, but the homemade nut roast and beautifully cooked veg were sublime. My husband had just one complaint - and that was that his gravy wasn't quite as tasty as the rest of the meal. But at those prices, what is he on about?! The pub looks really cool, has service with a smile (the Australian waitress is a gem!) and the whole place has a sophisticated, but relaxed, vibe. We will definitely be back. Well done - and hope you're there a long time to come!

Comment: Had not been to The Unicorn for many years and thought we would give it a try after seeing a flyer around town advertising live acoustic music on a Saturday night. The pub has a friendly cosy atmosphere with the annex acting as a lounge/music room. The night we were there an excellent duo Zervas and pepper played a mixture of own songs and covers. The new young owners are trying something new and I hope the people of Pontypool who love live music but don't want to sit in a workingmans club give their support. This is something Pontypool has been crying out for. There is no entrance fee and to be quite honest could become a great place to spend a Saturday night.

Comment: Came to play a gig at the Unicorn and was really struck by the warmth of atmosphere, genuine welcome and good beer! The kind of pub that's becoming increasingly hard to find - where you are treated like an individual and a place full of character. Hugely recommended!

Comment: My Nan was born and raised in Pontypool and had herself lived with her family in the Unicorn when she was a young girl. So Easter weekend me and my boyfriend Mark went to Pontypool and visited the Unicorn as requested, by my nan and we were so pleased by what we found. The atmosphere was brilliant, the food was very good and for an excellent price infact Mark couldn't beleive it when he went to pay. The staff were so lovely and very helpful. We spent a wonderful few hours there and would recommend to anyone. We will be visiting again soon, next time with my Nan hopefully.

Comment: Brandywine Appalachian Cloggers & Bluegrass Band really enjoyed the gig we played 31 Aug. Not too noisy because of the music annex room, and friendly people who sometimes just had to dance or sing along. Jim looked after the sound, and owner Haydn joined the band on some numbers. All good fun. Best wishes Andrew
